Sunit Citrolementha agro cultivators was started in 2009 by Dr Sudhakar Borkar (MBBS). He attended multiple seminars conducted by CIMAP, Lucknow, met existing players from Kanpur, Akbarpur, Bhopal etc. to understand the practicality of crop cultivation and oil production process. After thorough research, Dr. Borkar sourced 'Bio 13 & Bio 63' variety of citronella grass and 'lemongrass from Rahouri, Ahmednagar, Maharashtra, based on CIMAP suggestion. These varieties were selected considering the local temperature, weather, soil condition and water source. The oil production is done via steam distillation process. The plant is of stainless-steel steel with a capacity of 1 ton. The average output is 0.6 to 0.7 percent per ton.
