Sunit Citrolementha agro cultivators was started in 2009 by Dr Sudhakar Borkar (MBBS). He attended multiple seminars conducted by CIMAP, Lucknow, met existing players from Kanpur, Akbarpur, Bhopal etc. to understand the practicality of crop cultivation and oil production process. After thorough research, Dr. Borkar sourced 'Bio 13 & Bio 63' variety of citronella grass and 'lemongrass from Rahouri, Ahmednagar, Maharashtra, based on CIMAP suggestion. These varieties were selected considering the local temperature, weather, soil condition and water source. The oil production is done via steam distillation process. The plant is of stainless-steel steel with a capacity of 1 ton. The average output is 0.6 to 0.7 percent per ton.

About Citronella oil

Citronella oil is an essential oil obtained from the leaves and stems of different species of Cymbopogon (lemongrass). It is used extensively as a source of perfumery chemicals such as citronellal, citronellol, and geraniol. These are extensively used in soap, candles, incense, perfumery, cosmetic, and flavouring industries around the world. Citronella oil is also a plant-based insect repellent, particularly recognised as mosquito repellent for Aedes aegypti (dengue fever mosquito).

About Lemongrass oil

Lemongrass essential oil comes from the lemongrass plant, which grows in tropical and subtropical parts of the world. The oil can be bright or pale yellow with a thin consistency and a lemony scent. Lemongrass oil is extensively used as a diffuser for aromatherapy because of its sweet, lemony aroma which is excellent to ward off unpleasant smells and headaches. Essential oil extracted through the steam distillation process.
